Below is a selection of feedback that came in once Pinball Magazine No. 4 started arriving at the homes of those that ordered a copy:
- “It’s great!” – Mark Ritchie
- “@PinballMagazine Your magazine is a work of art married to a plethora of useful and interesting information- great job! #TakingItHomeToRead” – Jack Guarnieri (JJP)
- “Thank you for sending a copy of No. 4. It will be a fun read. Actually, I did read my interview first! I thought it was very smart and professional, the choice of images and their placement throughout the article, to complement the different things that I said, to provide a visual aid to those who may not be familiar with the games that I referenced. Very nice.” – Jay Stafford, IPDB
- The magazine arrived just today. Now, the likely reason this issue took as long as it did to arrive is because it apparently was dropped during unloading upon reaching New York’s air cargo terminal and was simply kicked around and run over several times, before someone realized it was a bit too heavy to sweep into their dustpan and then was forced to actually reach down and pick it up off the tarmac. As luck would have it (and as a testiment to your fantabulous packaging skill) the much anticipated, highly regarded and obviously incredibly valued contents inside remained nearly perfectly unharmed. Bravo! And bravo on another wonderful issue chock full of great content – sure to provide many hours of brain stuffing, eye glazing reading. Many thanks as always!” Cliffy (Passion for Pinball)
- “The magazine came in today’s mail Jonathan… looks great and can’t wait to read all about Taro! Thanks for being a force for good in pinball. Hope to see you in Texas sir! Take some time off over the holidays and play some pinball.” – Charlie Emery (Spooky Pinball)
- “Bonjour Jonathan, I received your magazine yesterday. I spent at least 15 minutes just to browse it, looking at the titles and pictures. It’s just AWESOME and the postcards are a nice add-on, especially during this upcoming Xmas period. Hence the reason why I did not ask if you were doing fine, because I had no doubt about it ;)” – Pascal Janin, FLIPPP
- “When I heard the drop of the package being delivered I figured it would be something special. Outstanding job on both the magazine and the packaging.” – Gary

- “Got mine today! Love it ! Such a top notch quality product. Well done Jonathan.” – MnPinball
- “Mine arrived today. Another very impressive THUD landing on the table.I’m still of the opinion I’d like to see more frequent publishing with less page count. Ie: twice as frequent, half the size. Would make them easier to digest as well. Same goes for the much talked about Python issue. Edit that down to a normal size issue. Give us the cream, don’t need everything. I know others disagree with me and want 400 page issues and wait 2 years for it, but I’d rather see them published more frequently.” – Frolic
- “Got mine a couple days ago, Jonathon. All I can say is, HOLY SHIT!!!! I don’t know why you don’t put a hard cover on it and call it a book. Seriously.” – Bryan Kelly
- “Got my copy 2 days ago here in Canada. My Diner pictures made it in the magazine and I’m very impressed by the quality of this publication. Wow! Congrats John and the team!” – Plumonium
- “Another terrific issue…this magazine just gets better and better. Thanks, Jonathan, for all your hard work – you’re truly a credit to the hobby and we’re lucky to have you doing what you’re doing. And…uh…am I the only one that thinks the magazine smells as good as it looks? ” – Beelzeboob
- “Your magazine is like Playboy. Nobody actually reads the thing. It’s all about the pictures….pure pinball porn. ” – Beelzeboob
- “Mine arrived Saturday, great packaging as always, not a dent or scratch. Looking forward to reading it this coming week, thanks again for all the hard work!” – MattS
- “I received my copy of issue #4 yesterday and I just wanted to say thanks for putting together such a wonderful and high-quality publication. I’ve enjoyed playing all of Mark Ritchie’s games and have an Indiana Jones as one of the foundations of my one collection, so I thoroughly enjoyed reading all that Mr. Ritchie had to say. The article about The Big Lebowski is also a very nice touch – I’m glad this game is finally shipping and the story behind it is a fascinating read. As always, I enjoy the magazine and look forward to your future publications!
You asked for a review of the shipping, so as requested I will say that the packaging was excellent for the trip to Raleigh, NC. The outside showed a few minor artifacts of being processed through the postal system, but the magazine was completely protected and in mint condition when I opened the package. I would not suggest any changes. I believe the inner bag and bubble wrap are highly protective while the external cardboard provides a nice stiff and slick surface for machine handling.” – Brian - “I just got my copy, and what a treat it is! Great articles and great pictures! The quality of the magazine is top notch. Loved the interviews, especially the ones walking through the process that Dutch Pinball went through for TBL. Unfortunately, it’s a fast read…can’t wait for #5!! Keep up the great work…spot on!” – Wyopin
- “It was only a fast read because I couldn’t put it down! Totally worth every penny!” – Wyopin (in reply to a question how 244 pages can be a fast read)
- “Just got mine today, was from the second batch I believe. Looks really nice & will keep me busy for quite some time reading it. Even the ads are interesting. Great packing!” – Billy16
- “Mine arrived today!! Perfect condition and I am going to take my time reading cover to cover. Thanks!!” – Swillie
- “Phenomenal magazine!!! I can barely put it down.” – Tigerlaw
- “I have to say well done once again on an amazing issue! Also props on packaging! The post tried to destroy mine, but it survived.” – Trapper08
- “HOORAY! Just pulled it out of the mailbox…… Headed to the beach for a few hours of reading! Once again…well done!” – PismoCade
- “Mine finally came in today’s mail… looks like it went through the war to get here. Opened it up to find a perfectly undamaged magazine. Awesome packaging job Jonathan!” – Dug
- “I’m writing to say what a PLEASURE it has been to spend the past few days completely immersed in the new issue! Your interviews with Mark Ritchie and a his family and co-workers is SO COMPLETE. It’s kinda like THE last word on his life — though here’s hoping that he has many more great things to produce. One of the things that really surprised me was how I longed to play his games (Fish Tales, Taxi, etc..) after reading about their design origins. Guess I’l be hanging around the more modern games at the next Alameda Expo! Ha! Again, thank you for making a GREAT mag. I’m about half way through the issue. Looking forward to more rainy days here in Fan Francisco so I can cuddle up with the “book” and read my days away.” – Lippy
- “Outstanding packaging and such a terrific magazine! Thank you for putting together such a great publication to the pinball community!” – Nick
- “It’s a great issue. I really like the Mark Ritchie feature. He’s done so many great tables and doesn’t seem to get the deserved press that his brother does.” – John
- “Great work Jonathan , excellent Mark Ritchie content! I’d call it more of a soft cover book than a magazine. Looking foward to the Python issue.” – Mike
- “While I have not time to read any of the articles yet I did take take a page by page tour and it looks like a fabulous issues. I think the smaller articles on the TPF, the IPDB, the Vector guys and Dan Ferguson add a lot to the magazine. And it arrived in perfect condition…..your mailer really does the job.” – Bob Herbison
- Thanks for a great magazine!” – Erik
- “Your magazine is excellent and I look forward to it and the monthly emails you send out between issues.” – John

- “I got mine!!! The cardboard was beat up but the magazine was so well packed that it is perfect! That History of Pinball article sure is awesome!!! ” – Jeff
- “I got my issue 2-3 weeks ago and I love it. I really like the interview with Mark Richie and the various people in Mark’s life. Excellent work. Seeing that I have a TBL on order I was very interested in the Dutch interview as well and gained a lot of insight on the entire development process of the game. I have every issue so far of the Pinball Magazine and they really are first class in every way. Very well done!” – Rockytop
