Greetings pinball fans,

Welcome to this second Pinball Magazine newsletter. Since the first newsletter was sent out, a lot has happened. There were some setbacks…, but they actually turned out to a good thing … 🙂

  • Regarding the setbacks: proofreaders read some of the copy I wrote for the magazine. It turned out to be not such a pleasant read. That’s why people are proofreading: to find out if it is any good, or not. Apparently, being from West-Europe I tend to construct my English sentences in a different way than Americans do, which makes it harder for them to read. The good news is: now that I’m aware if this, it can be fixed. Several journalists had already contacted me and some will help improve the copy, so that it becomes a more pleasant read for everybody. I’ve seen a revised article and I was pleasantly surprised to see how that turned out 🙂
  • The additional revising of articles will obviously take some extra time. That’s fine, as it will improve the magazine.
  • The copy deadline, which I originally set for June 1st, will be moved forward in order to allow articles to be revised, as well create some more copy. That also means the magazine will be published later than I hoped. But rather that, and showing up with the best magazine I can make, than settle for ‘fast’ and ‘good enough’ and ending up with a magazine that turns out to be a terrible read. I’m sure most readers will agree with me on this.
  • The past two weeks a lot of interviews were scheduled and held, as well as typed out and/or articles were written.
  • As Pinballnews.com already mentioned in their newsletter last week: prior to releasing the full magazine, a preview magazine will become available in print, as well as an online publication. The idea is to show what the magazine will look like and get an idea of its content. The printed preview magazine will be available at several big pinball shows in the upcoming months.
  • Besides working on copy for the magazine, a lot of work has also been put into other things that have to be taken care off. E.g. the webshop, negotiating with various mailing and/or fulfillment companies to handle shipping, and more things like that. Not the most fun to do, but it needs to be done in order to make sure it gets done right. The good news is: once all this is set up, it should simply work without having to worry about it.
  • Last but not least: the Pinball Magazine website has been given a ‘makeover’. The new layout will allow the website and magazine to look more alike. Once the magazine will be published the website will see some more changes, to make the transformation complete.

This is all for now. The upcoming week will be about doing the last interviews, revising articles and creating pages, which should be fun 🙂 In case you have any queries, comments or questions, feel free to contact me.

Have a great week!
